I always had a dream about driving in the desert in the US and listening to Creedence Clearwater Revival. Preferably in an old mustang, but more likely in a 2013 Hyundai. The latter I know because that is exactly what happened to us. It turns out that renting a cool car is much more expensive than renting a cheap car. Especially when you spend as much time as we did there (5 weeks).
We wanted to see all the cool nature stuff there is, in the western us. See the map below, that is the road we travelled. And God knows there is A LOT of cool nature stuff to see!
We went to (amongst other things): San Francisco, Point Reyes, Muir woods, Yosemite, Mammoth mountains, Big Pine, Death Valley, Las Vegas, Valley of fire, Zion, Goblin state park, Canyonlands, Bryce np, Grand staircase-Escalante, Arches np, Grand canyon, Petrified forest, Painted desert, Monument valley, Glen canyon, Paria, Kaibab and Boulder city.
Examples of great stuff to see!
The 3 second video
Since my parents always ask me to show them pictures and movies from our journeys, I made up a system not to bore them to death. Believe me, I tried to show them the good stuff only, but after 1000 photos or so they always tend to fade away and stop listening. So nowadays after I made a longer trip and got a lot of material I just put together a small video with 3 second long clips. That is approximately for how long our mind can bear to concentrate on something that is not about ourselves. I promise, this is the best way to go. They are happy that it did not take forever and they got an idea about what you were up to, and you are happy since they actually looked at the whole thing without yawning.
So here is my “3 second travel in the US”:
Everyone should go on a road trip in the US. I really want to go again, but next time, I will go in the northern part of the country. I give US and the A 5 out of 5 stars (when it comes to road trips…).
I will write about each place in a post of it´s own.
